This photo first appeared in the May 1938 issue of S&H. Joe Mills had become a member of the double bodyweight clean & jerk club on February 27th, 1938.
This was accomplished on a fourth attempt in the 132 pound class in a team meet between the Notre Dame Athletic Club (Central Falls, R.I.) and Romeo Bergeron's Canadian Athletic Club (Woonsocket, R.I.).
Romeo's club sponsored the meet.
The photograph gives an accurate account of Joe's physical condition at the time of the double bodyweight clean & jerk.

Having only seen him in the mags as the coach of Bednarski and Cameron and Central Falls teams
I had never seen a pic from his heyday.
AGAIN MIchael ,,, THANKS for providing these unique photos into Lifting History.
