Les,
I've got one of the vintage 1965 models in my garage. Bought it along with a York Power rack (about $50) in 1965 with the money I had saved from my paper route. Both the 400lb set and rack with shipping was less than $225. I still use the barbell and rack for squats. But most of the time, I use the rack to hold me up and keep me from falling over after doing squats.

Dane , yes I kept mine too , mine was bought in 73 and were the "skinny" plates ... They didn't get much use after 1976 , sat in a "shed" where I trained until My Grandma moved , then at my parents , then at my various homes .. my wife always hammered on me to sell them , of course I had grand plans to use them , but the days turned to years ,years to decades ,,,etc...
I began again last year with pressing mostly , then hurt my elbow , and have just started again with light training stuff , only pushing harder on benches and standing presses.
I am very out of shape , so I take it very slow ,, and my body seems to take extra days between workouts to recover ,,,
hope to keep at it and if I can get myself into some type of half-decent shape my try a masters or something , but that is a way off.
Anyway glad I kept them , they are still in fair shape (unlike me) ,
as I tried to tell my wife ,,, a true colletor's item if nothing else.
