*Exact bodyweight at competition not yet known. Current ranking assumes exact weight was maximum allowed in weight class. If actual weight was lower, it would improve ranking.

If anyone can cite a lift/total that should be on these rankings, please let me know. Any help with the missing bodyweight information would be most appreciated. Since the superheavyweight class has no upper limit, it is impossible to rank the following lifts/totals without exact bodyweight information. However, all could potentially make the above lists:
Code: [Select]
Alexander Kurlovitch    Snatch      205      1994       Istanbul
Alexander Kurlovitch    Total       457      1994       Istanbul

Why not expand the list to all major events such as Euros, etc.? There will be quite a few lifts made in those events that would make top 10 lists.

by what criteria ?
If the criteria for the greatest was technique weighted
I would include Yoto Yotov. He was for weightlifting
what Mickey Mantle was  for baseball for me. Inspiring !

I found the old sets of worlds records (-1992, -1997) and used the present set of world records to update the above world rankings. For the lifters below the superheavyweight class, I ranked lifts/totals according to the maximum allowed bodyweight in their resepective weight class. If they actually weighed less, this would improve their ranking. But, several lifts/totals made the ranking lists even assuming these maximum allowed bodyweights.

Also, none of the superheavyweight world record lists that I found listed the lifter's actual bodyweights, so those lifts/totals can't be ranked at all until that information becomes available. But, otherwise, I think it is unlikely for a lift/total to have been done in a drug-tested, international contest and not be in these rankings if it is good enough.

Thanks!
