Actually, the way the article described it, he would hold the bar at his knees til his coach told him to finish. It said he did these to help him save an out of position snatch. The article also had Victor Kurentsov (75 class) snatching with a clean grip. I think that issue also has sequence photos of Rigert cleaning 222.5.
