Shoe heel height???
« on: Dec 16, 2005, 07:19 AM »

New year coming up and I've got all the flexibility in my hips and lower body I'm gonna get.  What are the advantages to a slightly higher heel vs. the lower heel?  Right now I've got the old ADIDAS silver and white  from a few years ago.  I was thinking of adding 1/8th-1/4" to the heel and am wondering what to expect.

Does a higher heel let you assume a lower position in the catch or does/can it screw up you initial pull all together?

Big Jerry,

When I first transistioned from powerlifting, I was as flexible as rebar.  I'd bought some good Addidas from Safe, but was still having problems (not because of the shoes, but my old butt...).  Chris Wilkes told me that Glenn Pendlay was selling some Chinese shoes that had a higher heel and that they were good for less-than-flexible folks like me, and it did work a lot better.  I've since gotten better in the flexibility dept., but I'd reccomed giving Glenn a call.  He's gotten newer, better shoes in but with the same heel height, and they're actually cheaper than much of anything you can find anywhere else.

He's at wichitafallsweightlifting.com

Hurry up and get those new shoes so you can crush the weights in El Paso!!!

I think I've seen the shoes your talking about.  A guy in our gym got a pair and they are fairly wide.  I noticed the heel was about 1/4" higher than the ones I wear and was wondering "what if?"  Thanks for the reply and I'll give Glenn a call.  See you in Tx...
