Tread On Me At Dire Risk
Site Name Change

Dear Members,
The USAW has asked if I would change the name of our site to make it more distinct from their name. In the interest of cooperation and maximum participation, I am going to do so. When we make the change, we will have a redirect link to the new site from the current address for some time to allow everyone to find us.
I envision this site as much more than just a weightlifting forum, a place for people to talk about weightlifting. Thats great, but I also would like to see videos, pictures, and results ranging from local to international being exchanged. As we are storing everything on the site permanently, I see this as a digital weightlifting library and exchange.
Thus, I am favoring the name
www.weightliftingexchange.com
- "The Weightlifting Exchange"
Any opinions or other suggestions?
Thanks for all your support!

Chris,
I honestly feel that I really haven't got alot to say here and really don't know who I would be speaking with most of the time if I did. I check this site weekly or more and its just really slow. I think it has sort of a "business" feel about it. I am not saying thats bad but for us plain old guys out in our cold barns in the evening with our cheap lifting shoes, cap bumpers and York Training bar I am not sure where I fit in here.
Maybe if it could have more of a training type feel rather than a business feel it would pick up traffic. Id much rather debate and talk training rather than USAW whos doing what to who stuff like at Go Heavy. I can't remember the last good training post there.
What about a place to post training logs? It would be great to have people like you, Gary Deal and many more to be able to see my workout log and comment on it and offer guidance. I think it would help with us struggling lifters who can't get to a coach on a regular basis.
I also love the videos and like to read the results as its a way to compare my lifts to others.
If you don't mind I am going to make a post at the P&B Tommy Kono and John Davis Shrine forum and tell the guys over there to make sure to stop by here and support what you are doing. I want to help out as I think lifting needs to regain it popularity. Hopefully in time my children and grandchildren will have the opportunity to work with good coaches and the proper equipment but thats going to be up to us here today!

The idea of having a training journal is a good one. I would love to read about your program or some of the other vets programs. Or even, if you or other coaches talked about training some of your lifters and what they do in their programs and why.
I agree, it is a slow board but I really love this board. There is so much great info here and I am constantly on it. The studies and materials in the "Literature references and reveiws" section is just outstanding and as far as media goes, this place has the best collection of any site I have ever seen.
I also like the professional atmosphere here. Even when people don't agree, the debates are tame and logical. One of the reasons I rarely go to goheavy.com is because it just sucks. It is all bitching and fighting and not a whole lot of content or learning going on. I think this site would do wonders for advancing the sport if more people came to it.

Jeff,
I welcome the posting of training journals. All weightlifting related material is welcome and encouraged here.
I believe the membership is able to put whatever personal stamp they can on the site, within the rules of human decency as layed out in our rules at the top of the forum (which are open to discussion). We are only in existence 8 months, but I am satisfied with the progress.
We will value content and logic over emotion and we will trim our tree to produce the most useful weightlifting library that we are able.

Thats sound good Chris. I hope you don't mind me advertising at the P&B! There is a small handful of good guys there that post pretty regular that may help the site grow.
As for the new name...lets think on it a bit.

Jeff,
Our members are welcome and encouraged to post video in the general or multi-media forum for the purpose of getting technical assistance or for whatever reason floats your boat. I would like to keep the video which has broad appeal in the multi-media section for organizational purposes. Members are also most welcome to post their training logs for discussion in the general forum. I would be most happy to help anyone in any way I can as I am sure many of our other members would do.
But, while I see how this is related to the name change as the nature of the forum should be reflected in the name, I am still curious if anyone has any comments or suggestions about what name we use.
Do you all like
www.weightliftingexchange.com
, The Weightlifting Exchange?
Thanks!

Chris,
Thanks for asking about renaming the site...it sounds good to me...but ultimately the way I see it is: you're putting forth the time and effort; call it what you want! Good websites will draw exposure and participation. To paraphrase the movie Field of Dreams..."If you build it they will come." Keep up the good work and thanks for the effort.
Mike
