Asking for help.
« on: Sep 16, 2005, 11:15 AM »
Hey wasup everybody.

This is my first post, and I am glad to be part of the forum.

To tell you a little about me. I am 16 years old, and play ths sport of american football. The position I play is full back.

I was here trying to ask for you guys help with something. I was wanting to know if there was someone here that would help me out on my training personally. I live in columbus ohio, and I know there are some good training places out here, but for some reason its like I live 20 or so miles from them. You add that with going there 3 to 4 times a week with the gas prices these days, and the price to pay for membership you talking alot of money, and alot of money is what I dont have  .

Anyways I live in columbus ohio between brice and refugee rd, and was wanting to know if there was someone that is willing to help me out.

Thanks.

Oh yea just in case you would like to email me. It is:

Thanks for the information, but I already know about them. Thats one of the places where I was talking about when I say they are like 20 or so miles away from me, and I dont think I will be able to keep going back and fourth 3 to 4 days a week.

Mark,

I can't believe you're griping about only 20 miles away!  That's downright convenient; it doesn't get much better than that!!  There are many who travel much longer distances to get to their coaches/training centers...and CWLC has a good reputation.  If you want to train, you'll find a way.

Good luck,

Mike

Its all about dedication.

would catching a bus be cheaper?
I have to catch a bus more than 30 miles every day just to get to training and then another 30 on the way home. Fit that into a part time job and full time university.

If you want it bad enough you will do it.

Hi everyone.

Thanks for the reply's.

I have good news.. I just saved a bunch of money by switching my car insurance to geico. Lol I just had to say it.

No for real though I finally contacted them, and I am glad to say that I am about to start training with them also. I went up there on saturday to meet up with the guy that is going to be training me. His name is mark (dont know he's last name though) and he is a really nice guy.

We went over somethings and talked about what I was looking for and stuff, and he evaluated me to see where I was at with my flexibilty and such and teaching me how to use my hips (which is a big part in olympic weight lifting as I have heard). Needless to say I know I am going to love it here, and plus there facility is niiicceee.

Talked things over with my parents they agreed to it. I guess I was a little over reactive with the 20 mile drive. I thought it was going to be a big deal with my parents, but I guess it wasnt to big of a deal for them, and on top of that the personal training is only 35 dollars a month. You really cant beat that.

So like I was saying I think I am going to like it there, and I think I made a really good choice. Oh yea I didnt call the 985-4949 number. There was another number on the website that started with 832 number that I called. Well he is the guy that answer the emails. That is who I am hooked up with. Anybody know about him (his name is mark)? Is he any good. I heard everybody at columbus weight lifting is very good.

Well alright I just wanted to let all of you know how I was doing, and thank everybody for there help. If you guys want I could keep you posted on my training to see how things are developing if you like.

Ok ok one last thing. During the evaluation alright ill stop saying that. During the testing I found out that my flexibilty is not all that well. I knew I had gotten stiff because I have been inactive for awhile and just now getting back into working out. And when I mean inactive I mean inactive. The worst couch patato you can think of. I mean sitting at home sleeping not doing nothing for like 3 or so years. Not evwen going outside .

Well like I was saying my flexibility is pretty low, and that showed when he was testing my in the front squat and back squat. I guess what I was hte kind of squats I was doing before where incorrect well I was squating I guess you can say like a power lifter would squat. Well olympic squats require alot more flexibility I can tell you that much lol. My thing is I cant drop straight down, and keep my back up. I am used to putting my back back far like a power lifter would.

Alright alright to the point. You all know about olympic weight lifting and what flexibility it aquires. What streches and things like that I can do. To get my squats down. The guy said we will work on it but were not going to start intill next week at the beginning of the month ( my dads idea) and I just though I could work on somethings to improve my flexibility before then.

I would like to hear you guys suggestions, and opinons on this as I would really apriacte it.

Sorry to write so much I am just really excited.

Thanks again everybody for your help.

Mark,

Just tell Mark Cannellla that Chris LeRoux sent you. That should start you off on the right foot. Don't mention sock therapy, whatever you do, but please send my regards to Megan when you meet her.

Im backkkkkkk!
Hey wat's up everybody. Im back with an update!

First I wrote this thang, and for some reason it didnt come through so now I have to right this stuff all over again. Ugh.

Alright well I have to say this. I love weightlifting. It first started out with just somthing to get me ready for the sport I play which is american football, but after a couple of weeks I loved it. I mean what other better sport could I take up to get me physical prepaired for football. Thanks you guys for guiding me torwards weightlifting.

There are a few things I have to address though, that I am hoping you guys could help me out with.

First I have this problem with keeping my heels down. I mean I just cant seem to keep them down flat on the ground. Well when I am not warmed up I cannot seem to get them on the floor, but when I am warmed up I can get them down. See the problem this when I get them down my body is leaning over, and my back isnt straight up. I mean I can get pretty far down in my squat position, but its my back that needs to be straightin up. I mean I can see my coach, and other guys that come in the gym have o problem with this lol. Anyways, does anybody have some stretches or exersies that could help me out with this.

Alright another issue. For some reason my hips have been hurtin , and it has been affecting my lifts. By affacting my lifts I mean the squats. Somedays I cant even squat, because of the pain. The pain is coming from the top, and inside of my hips. Well how about the whole hip lol. My right one hurts the worse. I didnt do this one in the gym. I think I did this one at home. I was doing something. Cant remember, but when I did it I felt like I might have tweaked it, or something. I thought the pain would go away, but it hasnt. It been awhile. Sorry I cant give you a time frame, but its been this way for awhile.

My left one I think I did do in the gym. When I am back squatting, and I explode out from the bottom, and I get to the top I tend to bounce a little at the end of the lift. My coach tells me not to do it, I dont do it most of the time, but sometimes I do, and I think that is what is bothering my left hip. How do I know, because whenever I do, do that bounce I feel it in that spot lol. So any suggetions on what I could do to help my hip out?

1 last thing. I was wanting to get a refrence on weightlifting. Like a book or video that could show me somethings about weightlifting. Somthing that could show me some tricks, and secrets about weightling, and also something that can get me stronger, and strong on the lifts so I can surpise my coach, and get that edge. Me, and my coach workout on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays. Maybe between the days I could do some extra work so I can start outlifting my coach lol. You can pm me about this if you dont want everybody to know about the secrets. I would actually want you to anyways. I mean everybody cant know the secrets lol.

Well thats it. I hope I didnt ask for to much. I am looking forwared to you guys responses.

Thanks again everybody. Really you all have helped me out alot.
