  • What a cutie!!!
The American Masters are coming up in November.

If anyone has any thoughts about the last 4 to 6 weeks of training before a Masters meet, feel free to post it.

As for myself, here is what I have tried.

Assuming that you lift on a Saturday.

The week of the meet:

Monday -
Snatch and C&J, up to starting attempts
Possibly a light front or back squat
Wednesday -
Snatch and C&J, up to last warmup

10 days before the meet, last heavy snatch, up to 2nd attempt
14 days before the meet, last heavy C&J, up to 2nd attempt
If you fell that a second attempt is too heavy, go up to somewhere between 1st and 2nd attempt

I will do pulls/squats/jerks off rack up to about 90%, 3-6 weeks before the meet and taper off 2-3 weeks before. No pulls the week of the meet.

That's pretty much it. All comments welcome.
If I was doing any better, I would be twins!!!

Sounds good Dane.  I'm not going to do any heavy snatches for a month before either.  With snatches I peak quickly and can't stay there. Also doing triples in my squat routine for a change then a couple of heavy singles.  This warms me up for a few power snatches or whatever.

question about squat clean

When you start to rise after the squat clean, are you pretty strait up? Is there maybe a slight forward dip?

You should be straight (or maybe a small angle) with a slight arch of the lower back. If you catch the clean forward, you will hunch forward and most likely recover hunched over. Not saying that it can't be done, but it is brutal.

I guess catching the weight just at the perfect point helps too.
